Imphal, December 26 2008: SECURITY FORCES killed a suspected underground member today at Chingungkok in Imphal east even as a brief exchange of fired between a group of well armed militants and a combined force of Bishnupur police commandos and troops of Assam Rifles reported at Thanga Paton under Kumbi police station. A combined force of Imphal west police commandos and troops of 23 AR killed a suspected militant at Chingnungkhong near a Satjal house located some seven kilometer away from Lamlai police station in what police said in clash with some militants there today at around 3.40 pm. A 9 mm pistol loaded with some rounds of ammunitions and an India make hand grenade were recovered from the slain suspect, police said. Lamlai police retrieved the dead body from the spot and deposited at RIMS morgue for identification, the report added. Meanwhile, another report said that a combined force of Bishnupur police commandos and 7 AR have a brief exchange of fire at Thanga Paton under Kumbi police station today at around 11 am.
