Imphal, May 23 2009: In another twist of event that surfaced with the release of Pebam Gunendro, who was arrested by suspected personnel of Assam Rifles along with Loitongbam Satish @ Tomba on May 16 near Sajiwa Jail - the cat has been let out of the bag over the killing of L Satish through a witness account, prompting the Committee on the killing of L Satish to call general strike along NH-39 from 5am to 5pm tomorrow.

Pebam Gunendro was released today with a PR bond of Rs 50, 000 after he was produced before the JMIC, Imphal East today.

He was arrested by security personnel on May 16 along with L Satish - killed in an alleged encounter later- near Sajiwa Jail.

Talking to reporters minutes after his release in the premises of the Court, Pebam Gunendro spilled the beans over the killing of Satish, and emphatically said that his companion, Satish was not killed in an encounter, but was killed after his arrest.

Recounting the whole ordeals beginning from the moment they were arrested near Sajiwa Jail while returning back home after meeting an inmate on May 16, Gunindro clearly pointed out that his friend was not killed in an encounter as claimed by the security force.

Gunendro said that they were blindfolded after they were taken somewhere toward Sawombung to the 'officer' who the security force personnel wearing camouflage half shirt said wanted to meet them.

Then they were put inside a vehicle of the security forces and taken to unknown places.

Later they were taken another place, which Gunidro says is in the hills, and they were confined in separate rooms.

All their belongings were seized and the two were restricted to communicate, Gunindro recounts.

The personnel then charged that Satish was a PLA cadre, trained in Bangladesh and he (Gunindro) was an adviser of PLA, Gunindro said adding that he was threatened his private part will be screwed if he denied the charges.

He further said that he was shown the image of Satish dead body captured on mobile phone and he was put further to mental harassment to accept the charge lest he will meet the same fate of his friend.

Only then he came to know about the death of Satish.

Gunindro further said that before this incident, they once got the chance to meet.

Knowing well that both or one of them would surely be killed, they decided that their children be raised by the one who survives.

He also admitted that though the personnel did not torture him physically, he was put under mental harassment throughout the time he was in their custody.

He also confesses that, to secure his life as persuaded and assured by the personnel, he concorded to the terms of the security personnel that Satish was not killed in their custody.

The he was handed over to the Lamlai police station on May 19 .

Hearing the statement of Gunindro, irate mobs thronged the residence of Singjamei MLA Hemchandra and demanded the guilty personnel be booked and produced.

The mobs were later pacified by the MLA, who assures to extend help in fulfilling the demand.

Meanwhile, the Committee on the Killing of L Satish alias Tomba has announced a 12-hour general strike along NH-39 on May 23.The bandh will begin from 5 in the morning.

It may be recalled that a 12-hour Singjamei area, where the deceased belongs, bandh was also imposed by the Committee on May 21 last.
