Ninety percent of encounters are fake: RK Anand

Imphal, March 23 2009: MLA RK Anand while talking to the media persons as he in association with the JAC against the brutal killing of Akoijam Priyobrata alias Bochou received the body of Akoijam Priyobrata of Mongsangei Boroi Makhong who was killed in an incident which police claimed as an encounter with the Imphal West District Commandos on March 15 last said that 90 percent of the people killed by the security forces regularly in the state in incidents what they claim as encounter is fake and artificial.

The JAC said there is still not any agreement between the JAC and the government.

MLA RK Anand and the JAC considering the condition of the family members has decided to receive the body for his final rituals while the agitation will be continued with higher intensity said Anand in the press meet.

He further said that the law does not grant any right to government to kill a person on the basis of suspicion.

The court is the final authority to punish a culprit.

The government deviated from the path of justice could not stay in power he said.

He also said that to make the claim valid there nee not be any disparity among the views of the witness, families and state forces in the particular issue.

Meanwhile, the body of the person killed at Yangoupokpi Lokchao under Tengnoupal Police Station on March 20 last in an encounter with 29 Assam Rifles has been identified as one Thokchom Mohen (16) a resident of Wangu Makha Leikai.

He is survived by his only sister Piyari (19). According to Piyari, he set off from home six months before for work and was left unknown about his where about since then.

The body of the person who was killed in an encounter at Patbung Kuki Village under Sapermeina Police Station on March 20 last was also identified as one Pebam Gege of Sagolband Thingom Leikai.

He is said to be a poultry farmer and he left home wearing a half pant around 11 am on the day he was killed in an encounter according to his family members.
