Imphal, September 18, 2009: Troops of 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under IGAR (S) killed one UG cadre during an encounter Longdom Ngariyan at around 8.15 pm yesterday.

According to a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles, one misfired round, two fired cartridges of 9 mm, nine fired cartridges of AK-47 and one 9 mm pistol with magazine loaded with three rounds were recovered from the site of the encounter.

On the other hand, troops of 28 Assam Rifles arrested PRO of the armed outfit KRPA identified as Sarto Thangjaiem (50) s/o S Lengkhular of Punchangyang (Waikhok) along with five live rounds of AK-47 and one mobile phone during operation launched at Kakwa Bazar today.

The arrested individual and the recovered items have been handed over to Kakwa Police Station later during the day, the PRO said.

The PRO further conveyed the arrest of one PULF cadre identified as Md Shabir Chesam (19) s/o Md Nizamuddin of Khelakhong during operation in general area of Khelakhong and Uchiwa at around 6.10 pm yesterday.

One Bajaj Pulser MC (Black colour) Registration no.MN0-4B-5302 was recovered from the possession of the arrested PULF cadre who has been subsequently handed over along with the recovered item to the Mayang Imphal Police Station, PRO Assam Rifles added.
