Dimapur, February 16, 2010: Locals of Keishamthong Top Leirak today pressed Senior SP, Imphal West district, L Kailun to book the culprit(s) behind the murder of Thangjam Kunjo (63) of the locality who was found dead yesterday near the bridge at Keishamthong.

Kunjo of Keishamthong Top Leirak was found dead near the bridge yesterday forenoon, at about 11 am.

Locals suspected he was murdered and protested with a rally carried out on the street at Mayai Lambi today.

After the protest rally, local leaders led by the councillor of the Imphal Municipality ward no.11 Joy met with the Senior SP of Imphal west, L Kailun at the office chamber of the latter.

In the meeting, they pressed the SSP to investigate into the case of dead of Kunjo and award befitting punishment to the culprit (s) behind the murder.

They also assured all kinds of cooperation to the police in investigating the case and prevent from any kinds of communal disharmony in the area.

After hearing the complaint of the local representatives, Kailun informed them that police has registered a case with regard to the dead of Kunjo and started investigation.

For further investigation into the nature of dead, police are awaiting post mortem report to the decease's body.

He also assured them that justice will be delivered to the family of the decease.
