Imphal, May 15 2009: The suspected KCP cadre who was shot dead by Imphal West Police Commandos during a reported encounter along the hilly tract connecting Langol Games Village and Lainingkhul at around 6.15 pm yesterday has been identified today as one Md Hafizudin (20) s/o Rausandin of Mantripukhri Muslim Khul.

He had been earlier arrested and jailed by the Police Commandos on alleged charge of having nexus with armed group PULF.

However, according to family members, Md Hafizudin was staying at the AR post of Sagolmang for taking part in recruitment rally.

On May 13 he had contacted the family members informing that he got his pay and would be coming home.

Md Hafizudin left behind his wife and one son.

The body has been handed over to his family members after post-mortem at RIMS today.

Meanwhile, the body of Montun Thakur (24) s/o Ram Pratap Thakur, a non-local barber who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Khamnam Keithel, Soyam Leirak Machin at around 6.30 pm yesterday has also been handed over to his family members after post-mortem examination at RIMS today.

Hailing from Tetri village under Begusarai district of Bihar, Montun was running a hair cutting salon at Khamnam Leirak.

The identity of the killer and the reason behind the act is still not known.
