Imphal, December 13: A large number of blood samples of different bird species collected by the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department and sent to Bhopal for laboratory test have been found negative.

The Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Dept has received results of the test.

Yet, the Department has taken up preventive measures against possible outbreak of bird flu with the onset of winter season during which migratory birds come to the State.

The Department informed that surveillance measures have been put up to check outbreak of avian flu through migratory birds, informed a source.

As per the instruction of the Union Govt, 100 blood samples of different bird species are being sent to Bhopal for laboratory test on monthly basis.

A training of Veterinary staff would be conducted on Dec22 at Imphal with the officials of the Ministry concerned, added the source.
