Imphal, April 08 2009: The identity of the suspected UG who was shot dead by personnel of 3 Assam Rifles during an early morning encounter yesterday at Kaprang village in CCpur district has been established today as one Keisham Jiten (30) s/o late Muhindro of Keinou Thongthak Awang Leikai.

He was said to be a former cadre of the proscribed UNLF who had been jailed earlier but retired from the outfit long ago.

According to family members, Jiten had been married for just 11 months and he had been called out from home by some police commandos on the pretext of having some talks few days earlier.
