Imphal, November 02 2008: The suspected KCP (MC) cadre shot dead by a combined force of Imphal West commandos and troops of 16 AR during a reported encounter at Khonglong along NH 53 last night has turned out to be a KCP cadre who surrendered to the Chief Minister with weapons about 10 years back.

He was one Thounaojam Iboyaima alias Suresh (42) s/o late Manglem of Uripok Bachaspati Leikai but staying at family quarters of 7th MR Battalion Headquarters at Khabeisoi.

In connection with the killing, Ibemcha Devi (38), wife of Iboyaima, has lodged a written complaint at Heingang police station today seeking registration of a case against the Commandant of 16th AR posted at Noney and Imphal West commandos.

According to the written complaint, Iboyaima surrendered to the Chief Minister of Manipur 10 years back.

After that, he was staying in the family quarters of 7th MR with permission from the authority concerned.

Iboyaima was picked up by some unidentified persons who came in a Gypsy and Maruti car from the junction leading to Khabeisoi at about 1 pm yesterday, mentioned the complaint.

Speaking to reporters, Ibemcha said that her husband surrendered to the then Chief Minister with a .38 pistol.

Following the surrender, he stayed at Dog Squad near Commando Complex for about a year before shifting to 7th MR family quarters.

The unidentified persons picked him up just as he got down from an auto-rickshaw in which he visited his Uripok residence yesterday.

In the next moment, they confiscated his mobile phone, conveyed Ibemcha quoting people who reportedly saw the whole scene.
