Imphal, September 01 2009: Unidentified armed men gunned down the driver of a passenger bus along ImphalChurachandpur Road at Phoubakchao Ikhai area today evening.

According to police report, the passenger bus, Sidaba Mapu, bearing registration no.MN-01/1397, was carrying passengers from Imphal and heading towards Churachandpur when two unidentified armed persons opened fire at it at Phoubakchao Ikhai at around 5.30 pm killing the driver.

Bishnupur district police rushed to the area.

However, there is no report of any arrest till the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the body of the driver has been picked up by Moirang Police.

It may be recalled here that on the night of August 23, unidentified armed persons had also opened fire on a passenger bus and a car causing injuries to the occupants in that area.
