Imphal, May 30 2009: Reacting to the statement made by Imphal West Senior SP L Kailun in connection with the arrest of student leaders, DESAM claimed that such statements are the 'by-heart' actions of police which have been continuing for long.

The students' body said, it is unfortunate that student leaders who were picked up on the pretext of making verification were later levelled charges of having connection with underground elements.

DESAM further said that it would be easy for even a child to make such accusations after being held in their captive.

Maintaining that such 'by-heart' actions have been continuing for too long, DESAM urged the Government to release the students leaders without any condition.
