Imphal, August 27 2009: One suspected UG cadre has been slain in a reported encounter with Assam Rifles at Ngariyan along Imphal-Yairipok road at around midnight yesterday.

According to a press release issued by the AR PRO, based on specific information regarding presence of two to the armed cadres in Ngariyan Pangal area, troops of 28 AR launched operation in the area resulting in elimination of one KCP cadre on August 26 .

Troops of 28 Assam Rifles and suspected UG cadres engaged in gunfight at Ngariyan Kabui Khongnangkhong under Yairipok police station at about 12.25 am last night, said a police source.

One 9 mm pistol and three live rounds were recovered near the spot where the UG suspect was killed.

The slain UG suspect has been identified as Md Sameer Khan (25) s/o late Md Achou.

The corpse has been handed over to family members after post mortem at Lilong CHC today.
