Imphal, February 27, 2010: Sanasam Nopur Singh, father of Sanasam Ningol Yumnam Ongbi Inakhunbi Devi, who was found hanged to death on February 23 last at her husband's residence, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister praying to allow for conducting the last rites of the deceased.

The memorandum also demanded for early booking of the culprit involved in the alleged murder.

S Nopur in his memorandum said that many external injuries were detected on the body of Inakhunbi during post mortem conducted on February 24 at Lilong PHC.

He further said that as per opinion of the experts, there is likelihood of murdering her daughter before she was hanged with a rope.

Nopur further alleged that on many occasions, Inakhunbi's husband and in-laws tortured her and recently her father in-law made a call to the mother of the deceased to take back her daughter, otherwise they would find Inakhunbi dead.

Nopur lamented further that till date, no action has been taken up by the Officer In-charge of Thoubal police station in connection with the incident.

He prayed the Chief Minister to allow to perform ritual ceremonies and also to take up action so that the in-laws are arrested immediately.
