Imphal, December 26 2009: In protest against torturing a young man brutally and opening fire near his ear by two persons who identified themselves as members of the proscribed PREPAK, local residents staged a protest demonstration on the ground of Ringo Youth Club, Keibi Makha Leikai under Lamlai Police Station today.

The young man identified as Ngangbam Tiken (34) s/o late Maipak of Keibi Makha Leikai, who operates diesel auto service from 7 AR post, Khabeisoi to Khwairamband Bazar, was returning home after the day's work when two armed persons who identified themselves as members of the proscribed PREPAK stopped him near his residential gate on the night of December 24 and asked for dropping them at some place.

When Tiken refused, the two armed persons beat him up and opened fire very close to his ears.

Hearing the gun shot and the cries of Tiken, local residents rushed out and chased after the two armed persons who fled towards the hillock at Keibi Maning.

The protestors demanded an explanation from the outfit on the said incident.
