Imphal, September 25 2009: Describing as unfortunate the violent incident of killing two persons by cadres of a UG group on the night of September 23 in between Chingnungkhok and Happyland which has come after a similar incident of killing two other persons by another UG group at the Nongren foothill on September 21 night, United Committee Manipur (UCM) has appealed to all concerned to ensure such incidents of creating fear and panic among the people are not repeated.

In a statement, UCM also appealed to the people of the area to maintain peace and co-operate among each other so as to ensure such unwanted incident do not take place again in the future.

The statement signed by the assistance secretary of information and public relations of UCM N Jiban further drew attention of the Govt for taking up measures to rehabilitate the panic stricken villagers who have fled from their houses after the recent spate of violent incidents.
