Imphal, January 23 2009: A 35-year old maiden who was physically handicapped since childhood and ran a Pan Dukan from near the Forest Gate of Moreh was found dead inside her own shop in a suspicious manner this morning.

Though the police have not yet established the exact cause of the death, it is suspected that 35-year old Lamkhotin Mate alias Tingnu daughter of late Jamlet Mate of Thangnom Veng of Moreh Ward No.9 was strangulated to death after rape.

She was found lying dead on her own bed inside the Pan Dukan with stangulation marks on her neck, scratches marks on her face with her private parts bleeding.

She was discovered dead by her elder brother Thangboi (40) after he found that the door of the shop was ajar and her sister had not come out to open it till late in the morning unlike other days.

Police have registered a case in this connection and the body has been handed over to the family members after post-mortem examination at RIMS morgue here, said sources.

There is no report of any arrest at the time of filing this report.
