Imphal, November 20 2009: Reacting to the press statement of the proscribed UNLF published in some section of the media, PRO Hqs IGAR (S) said that UNLF's allegation of AR engaging in false encounter is 'baseless, mischievous and frivolously fabricated'.

A press release issued by the Assam Rifles PRO asserted that the chaotic state in Manipur is a handiwork of the 'so-called liberators' who are causing real harm and nuisance to the society and it has become a discernible fact to public now.

The activities of these groups are directly affecting peace, development, education, culture and societal bond and have taken the State backward since many years instead of moving forward, the press release said adding that every man, woman and child of Manipur know and admit it.

The PRO further alleged that the UG outfits have no accountability and publish statements without considering the facts only to mislead people.

The press release added that Assam Rifles troops have been carrying out counter insurgency operations professionally and would continue to do so.

False and malicious propaganda would not deter the Assam Rifles in carrying out operations against UG outfits, it added.

The PRO said that AR would continue to assist the people in developmental programmes and help in ensuring peace and tranquillity as sentinels of North East.
