Imphal, October 14 2008: The identifies of the two persons who were found shot dead with their eyes blind-folded and hands tied from behind at Tharoijam Maning Canal under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West District last night have been established today.

They were Thenmang alias Mangboi Haokip (28) s/o late Sonsei of Sipijang but staying at his wife's maternal place at Kangchup Chiru and Mansat Kipgen (24) s/o Sheikholal of Saikotjang but staying in a rented room at Canaan Veng.

Both Sipijang and Saikotjang fall within the jurisdiction of Sapermeina Police Station.

According to family members, Mangboi is an innocent person and he had been staying at his wife's place at Kangchup Chiru for the last 5 years.

He was probably killed along the way while coming to his native village from Kangchup.

On the other hand, Mansat was staying in a rented room at Canaan Veng and working as a rickshaw driver.

On last Sunday, he left from his rented room to go to his native village.
