Imphal, February 12 2009: A combined force of Imphal West police commandos and troops of Maratha Li killed a suspected underground activist tonight around 9.05 pm at Ningombam Lamkhai under Singjamei police station.

Today's incident was the 44th in the last 43 days since the beginning of the current year 2009 .

Reports said that the combined team of the Imphal west police commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry gunned down the suspected youth tonight at a place along the inter-village road connecting Ningombam with Mongshangei.

Police said, the youth was killed during a gunfight in the area with the combined force.

A 9mm pistol with a magazine loaded with three live rounds was recovered from the slain UG.

The yet to be identified body has been retrieved from the spot by the police and kept at RIMS morgue for official procedures.

The body seems to be 27/28 years old, wears maroon colour trousers and a grey colour jersey.
