Imphal, April 11: Women folk of Uchekon Khunou staged a sit-in-protest at Lairenpat bus waiting shed today to denounce atrocities committed by Thoubal police commandos on M Naobi Chanu.

The protestors raised slogans demanding resignation of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and his Council of Ministers accusing them of failing to protect modesty of women, identification and punitive action against the personnel involved in the case and penalising CJM Thoubal for her alleged procedural oversight resulting in the detention of the victim girl.

Under the aegis of Women's Social Development Organisation, Brahmapur local meira paibis staged sit-in-protest at the auditorium of Youth's Club. The JAC Against the Kidnapping of N Kumar has imposed a general strike from 5 pm of today till 5 pm tomorrow.
