Lamka, October 07 2009: Two youths suspected to be members of an armed outfit UKLA (MC) were killed in an encounter with Quick Reaction team of the 3 (NH) AR here at around 6 pm today, reports our CCpur correspondent.

Two 9mm pistols, some live rounds, a wrist-watch and a sizeable number of incriminating documents were recovered from them.

After continuously tracking the activities of the proscribed outfit UKLA (MC), Assam Rifles received information regarding the whereabouts of three of their hardcore leaders, said AR sources.

The troops then surrounded the house and on seeing the security forces, the three youths fired at the approaching forces and jump off the window in their bid to escape but two of them were killed in an encounter that lasted for about 30 minutes.

The third, suspected to be UG cadre however managed to escape.

After a thorough search of the area, besides the two pistols, some live and fired rounds three letterhead booklets of the UKLA (MC), and one-hundred and thirty-two loose demand letters signed by one Boipu Kuki, Hqs Finance, UKLA (MC) and a receipt were recovered, said the source and added that, it was the same group that had kidnapped Saikot BDO last month.

The slain bodies were deposited at the hospital morgue at around 8:15 pm for indemnification, and the recovered armed along with the documents were handed over to the local police here at around 9:15 pm.
