Imphal, July 06 2009: Of the four UG suspects shot dead by troops of 29 AR at two different places under Tengnoupal police station in Chandel district on July 4, the identities of two have been established.

Of the two individuals killed during a reported encounter at Lilam in July 4 morning, one has been identified as Khundrakpam Basanta alias Babu (25) s/o Babaton of Jiribam, Kamranga.

Family members disclosed that he was a PLA cadre.

He left home about 15 years back.

KYKL cadre, Mutum Michael (34) s/o Biren of Lalambung Makhong Naosekpam Leikai was among the two UG cadres killed by troops of 29 AR at Kambang Khunou in the afternoon of the same day.

However, Assam Rifles has been claiming that all the four slain individuals were PLA cadres.

Corpses of the identified individuals have been claimed by family members after post mortem at RIMS today.

On the other hand, the UG suspect shot dead by a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry during a reported encounter at Waheng Khuman Khongnangkhong under Wangoi police station in the intervening night of July 3 and 4 could not be identified till date.

The corpse is lying in RIMS mortuary.

Wangoi Police said that due arrangements would be made to dispose the corpse in case no one come forward to claim it by July 8 .

The deceased appeared to be around 22 to 25 years in age.

He was wearing jean pants and a black T-shirt over a full-sleeve red shirt.

His chest was tattooed with the word "Love".
