Imphal, January 06 2010: Two thieves arrested by Imphal City police last month while trying to rob a car at Paona Bazar, in the heart of Imphal city, have been re-arrested by Lilong police of Thoubal district in connection with a case related with murder of a pradhan.

The two thieves were identified as Md Yakiriyia (24) of Lilong Haoreibi and Md Raja of Lilong Makha Leikai.

They were re-arrested yesterday and produced today in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thoubal and remanded to police custody for seven day.

A patrolling party of the Imphal police arrested the two thieves in the wee hour of December 23 last year while trying to rob a car park at Paona Bazar.

Since the day they were in the police custody of Imphal city police.

Lilong police re-arrested the two thieves in connection with a case register with them on the murder of a pradhan of Irongcheshaba gram panchayat in 2008.The pradhan named Md Juman Khan was killed by some miscreants two year back on November 3, 2008 .

Police charged the two thieves suspected to be activists of a Muslim based underground organization for their involvement in the case.
