Imphal, October 29 2008: The State Government has decided to press into action a Fact Finding Committee to investigate the burning down of a bus over monetary demand by KLO/KLA at Lahorijan in Assam on the night of October 23.Two passengers were charred to death while several other suffered burn injuries in the incident.

According to information received by the press, the decision to entrust the Fact Finding Committee to investigate the incident was arrived at during a high level meeting presided over by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh at his office chamber today.

Chief Secretary of the State, DGP, Commissioner (Revenue), IGAR (South) and officials of the 3 Corps attended the meeting.

The Fact Finding Committee would be headed jointly by an official of the rank of IG and a Commissioner.

Today's meeting also decided that the Government of Manipur should approach the Governments of neighbouring States like Nagaland and Assam in ensuring protection along the National Highway-39 .

The Army also gave assurances from its side on extending every possible measures in ensuring the safety of the passengers along the National Highway.
