Congress is seems remaining silent till now.

Political observers here assumed two reasons behind the Congress in Manipur remaining silent, first in the wake of series of attacks to the party workers and the other on AICC decision on giving party ticket to the sitting MP, Meinya.

Party workers dissatisfaction over the ticket issue clearly indicated by less turned out in the reception function of the MP T Meinya who arrived at Imphal yesterday from New Delhi after the AICC declared him as official nominee of the party.

Meanwhile, state units of the CPI and BJP have started their election campaign with the arrival of the leaders from the national capital here.

CPI, AB Bardan has arrived Imphal today and flagged off the election of the party candidate, Dr M Nara, former state minister today with a grant function held at Khuman Lampak, Imphal while BJP's Organizational Secretary North East in-charge Chandra Sekhar has arrived Imphal yesterday and proceeded to the hill districts of Manipur for the election rallies for candidate in the outer seat.

Congress party which had already started campaign long before the announcement of the elections scheduled with party conferences at the block level has remained silent now.

So far no election related activities accept a meeting held last weekend at the party office in Imphal in which chief minister O Ibobi and MPCC Chief Gaikhangam attended before the announcement of Congress candidatures.
