Imphal, January 23 2009: The proscribed KYKL has strongly contended that three persons gunned down by security forces' on January 19 and 20 have no relation with the armed organisation.

According to deputy secretary, publicity and research of the KYKL Apabi Mangang alleging that all three were slain in fake encounters also conveyed in a statement that 46 year old Khumukcham Thoiba s/o Sanahongba of Umathel Makha Leikai was actually picked up from his wife's maternal home at Chandel district's Mahou Tera Kom village on January 19 at around 6.15 pm.

After calling out Thoiba under the pretext of having some talks at around 2.30 pm of January 19, the security team comprising of Thoubal district commandos and troops of 21 Assam Rifles gunned down Thoiba and abandoned at Wabagai Leirak Achouba after which the victim was branded as a UG cadre, Apabi maintained.

The deputy secretary, however conceded that Thoiba was a former member of the KYKL, who was discharged in 2002 from the organisation on health ground and was living at the Chandel village along with his wife and children.

Regarding the gunning down of Ningthoujam Ananda (33) s/o (L) L Angoubi of Top Moirang Kampu and Palungbam Kunjabihari alias Boss (35) s/o P Pishak of Khurai Lairikyengbam Leikai, Apabi Mangang contended that Ananda was apprehended by Imphal West police commandos at around 1.30 pm of January 19 from DM College campus.

Having netted Ananda, the police commandos in collusion with troops of 16 Assam Rifles slain the captive along with P Kunjabihari along the Kanglatongbi-Makha road, the KYKL maintained.
