Imphal, January 14 2009: Unidentified persons lobbed a bomb at the residence of the OC-in-charge of Sekmai police station, MPS officer, Sarja Laishram at Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai today in the evening.

The bomb landed near the garage at the rear side of the house and exploded.

Though no one was injured in the blast a Maruti car parked there suffered damages with its right window shield smashed.

Splinters also hit the roof of the garage.

The father of the MPS officer, consultant surgeon at JN hospital Dr L Joykumar said that they have not received monetary demands from any militant organisations.

However in June last year, a faction of the KCP had placed a hand grenade at the gate of his younger brother who lives next door, in connection with a contract work at Khuga dam.

The younger brother is an EE at Khuga project and is identified as L Tonumacha.

Nevertheless it is still not clear who was behind today's bomb attack.

The attackers came in a Honda Activa and before lobbing the bomb, they opened one round of gun fire.

SSP of Imphal West rushed to the spot and inspected the site.
