Imphal, December 13 2008: The Kom Rem People Army (KRPA) has condoled the death of its commander L Chungpa Kom alias Rengthoi alias CC alias Kerry Kom in the hands of 32 AR on December 4 .

A press release issued by KRPA information and publicity secretary Rakesh Kom said that the death of Rengthoi is a big loss for KRPA as well as for the land.

On the fateful day of December 4, Rengthoi went to Thajong village for some work on a Honda Activa taking Rs 50,000 with him.

At about 1.30 pm, troops of 32 AR picked him up from the house which he visited.

Then the AR troops took him to their camp before he was done to death, it conveyed while alleging that the AR troops have concealed the Honda Activa and the cash.

Asserting that the KRPA, set up to protect Komrem people from some organisations which often victimised Komrem people, never acted against the Government, questioned the motive and reason for killing Rengthoi.

Some days after the killing of Rengthoi, the Thajong village chief was abducted by some 5/6 persons who identified themselves as KNF cadres for a ransom of Rs one lakh.

The village was released only after exacting Rs 80,000 and thrashing him brutally, the KRPA disclosed.

Alleging that some cadres of Kuki UG groups have been staying inside the Andro camp of 32 AR, the KRPA accused security forces of abetting violence in Manipur.

It also clarified that the KRPA was not involved in the recent abduction of T Hungjo.

Joshua Kom will be the C-in-C of KRPA while G-10 Kom will be in charge of finance, conveyed the release.
