Imphal, November 29 2009: United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has strongly condemned the murder of Benjamin Thangbem s/of Ngampao Haokip of Khengjoi village allegedly by cadres of Kuki National Army on November 26 at Tuibong in Churachandpur.

In a statement, information and publicity secretary of UKLF Mathew Thadou said that Benjamin Thangbem was in fact a cadre of UKLF who joined the organisation and allotted Kuki army no.206 .

But he was discharged on medical ground in 2003 .

It is against conventional practice and spirit of true revolutionary movement to exterminate ex-cadres of any revolutionary organisations, Mathew said.

Stating that KNA which claims to be fighting for an independent Kuki nation contradict itself in its barbaric acts not only this time but also on many occasions in the past, Mathew alleged their hands (KNA cadres) are stained with the blood of their own people rendering hundreds and thousands as widows and orphans.

The UKLF, on the other hand, is against any form of bloodshed and fratricide among its own community or tribes, which is also against its principle of 're-unification' of all Kuki tribes.

Recalling the May 11, 2009 incident of killing two UKLF cadres by KNA at Gunjil in Chandel district, Mathew informed that after the incident, a meeting was held on June 25, 2009 with DIG AR 26 Sector, Pallel in the chair.

IN the said meeting both UKLF and KNA signed an agreement and resolved that two groups will not open fire against each other, deliberately or accidentally.

But KNA has violated the agreement by murdering mentally retarded Benjamin Thangbem, an ex-cadre of UKLF.

Warning KNA against indulging in such fratricidal killings in the future, UKLF has also shared the grief of the bereaved family members, relatives and friends of Benjamin Thangbem.
