Imphal, May 15 2009: Nungleiband village (Longlei Apinjang, Ganglon Part IV) was attacked by armed cadres of KNF (MC) with sophisticated weapons on May 12 and 13, said a press release issued by Zeliangrong Youth Front, Nungba Zone while strongly condemning the attack.

The KNF (MC) cadres numbering around 70 opened fire indiscriminately at the village forcing the villagers to flee away.

But soon after the villagers fled away from their houses, the KNF (MC) cadres went on a spree of vandalism and looting.

They broke open the locked doors and either vandalised or looted the belongings of the villagers in addition to slaughtering a number of cows, pigs, dogs and poultry, alleged the ZYF.

It also questioned the motive of 8th Gorkha Regiment to allow the KNF (MC) cadres attacked the village even as it was known that KNF (MC) was a signatory of SoO pact.

Further accusing the outfit of looting passengers on May 14 between Laikha and Zoujangtek village along Old Cachar Road, the ZYF Nungba Zone urged upon the Government to take up appropriate actions against the outfit and to compensate the losses incurred by the villagers.

Failure of the Govt in this regard may constrain the Zeliangrong people to take up necessary measures to defend/protect the lives of Zeliangrong people.
