Accused killers of Wahidur in police net; UG shot dead

Imphal, January 05 2008: Two teenagers, both below 18 years of age, arrested by the police in connection with the killing of Md Wahidur of Urup Ching have confessed to the crime.

The two teenagers have been reportedly arrested by the police from their respective houses early morning yesterday.

Police have not, however, revealed the names of the killer teenagers.

On the other hand, infuriated local people tried to destroyed the houses of the members of JAC formed in connection with the killing allegedly them with concealing the identities of the killers.

Personnel of the Imphal East district police arrived in time to control the mob.

They also fired mock bombs to disperse the incensed mob.

It may be recalled here that 15-year old Md Wahidur was found dead at the hillock of Urup in the morning of January 2 .

In protest against the killers, people of the area have been launching various intense agitations for the last couple of days.

The body of Wahidur has been taken away by the family members after post-mortem examination at RIMS today.

Meanwhile, a combined force of Imphal West District Police Commandos and personnel of 12 MLI have reportedly killed a suspected cadre of the proscribed PREPAK during a shoot out which took place at Ningombam Lamkhai of Ghari under Singjami Police Station in Imphal West district at around 8.20 pm today.

Another cadre reportedly managed to escape under cover of darkness.

According to police one point 32 pistol and a magazine loaded with one live round of ammunition have been recovered from the possession of the slain cadre.

The corpse has been picked up and deposited at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital for identification.
