Imphal, November 01 2009: Unidentified armed persons shot dead a non-local man near Government Ideal Blind School at Takyel Khongbal under Lamphel police station at about 8 am today.

The deceased identified as Md Kalab (45) s/o Laskar of Shamshebad village, West Bengal was said to be a scrap collector.

He was staying in a rented room at Pandon.

He came to Manipur about 10 years back.

Police have picked up the corpse and deposited at RIMS mortuary.

Meanwhile, identity of the KCP (MC) suspect killed in a reported encounter with another suspected cadre of the same at Songlung village under Sapermaina police station at about 3 pm of October 28 has been established.

He was one Rajesh Thapa (24) s/o Bani Bahadur of Gamnuam village, Ukhrul.

He left home about a year back saying that he was joining transport service.

But he never returned home.

The other man killed with Rajesh Thapa had been already identified.
