Imphal, March 31 2009: One suspected cadre of KNF (MC) has been killed in a shoot-out between suspected NSCN (IM) cadres and KNF (MC) cadres at Tinjang village near Nungleiband, about 15 kms West of Loktak police station under Tamenglong district at about 4 am yesterday, informed a source The encounter site falls under the jurisdiction of Khoupum police station.

During the shoot-out which lasted for about 4 hours, one cadre of KNF (MC) was killed while two others sustained injury.

Both the corpse and injured cadres have been carried away by other cadres of the outfit, the source said.

Notably both the UG groups are under ceasefire pacts with the Central and State Govts at different levels.

Although, there is no formal ceasefire between State forces and the NSCN (IM), the rebel group has stopped engaging State force in gun fights since a long time back.
