Lamka, March 29 2009: One suspected UG cadre has been slain in a reported encounter with Imphal East commandos near the entrance to the Forensic Science Laboratory at Pangei along Imphal-Saikul road.

The encounter ensued when the commando asked two youths coming on a Honda Activa to halt at Haotal near Sainik School at about 7.30 am today.

Instead of stopping, the youths sped up while the pillion rider opened fire towards the security team, informed a police source.

The commandos pursued the youths firing along the course.

Even as the pillion rider got down near the Forensic Science Laboratory, the other managed to escape in the northern direction.

The one who got down was killed in the firing by the commandos, conveyed the source.

One 9 mm pistol and a magazine containing one live round and another (40) s/o late Md Tocha of Kwakta Thingel Leikai but staying at Hatta.

He was a carpenter.

He left his Hatta residence last night.

Bruises were also observed on his body.

The corpse has been handed over to family members after completion of post mortem at RIMS today.
