Imphal, June 26 2009: The proscribed PREPAK has condoled the death of L/Cpl Moirangthem Rakesh alias Raju Laifaba (27) s/o M Shamyung of Kakching Chumnang Leikai and Pvt Ningthoujam Sanjoybi alias Apabi (32) s/o Chaoba of Lafupat Tera Mayai Leikai.

According to a press release issued by Aheiba Angom of the outfit's department of publicity and propaganda, Laifaba and Apabi were pulled up by a team of Thoubal police commandos from Sarik Konjin at about 5.30 am of June 24 before they were subjected to severe torture and done to death at Mondum hills.

It further alleged that the Thoubal SP's statement claiming recovery of M-70 one grenade launcher, two bombs of 40 mm, one 9 mm pistol, one magazine, one .36 HR grenade and empty cases of AK and 7.6 2mm ammunition were all lies aimed at presenting the killing as a case of encounter.

Asserting that no weapons were with the cadres on the day, the outfit asserted that it would not be possible for the commandos to pull up Laifaba and Apabi easily had they had weapons with them.

Saying that Laifaba was pulled up from the house of one Ningthoujam Sanayaima (55) of Sarik Konjil and Apabi from the house of one Salam Khaba of the same locality on the information provided by some self-seeking individuals, the outfit asserted that the alleged fake encounters being staged by security forces would never succeed in suppressing the revolutionary movement.

It would be only vitalising the movement, added Aheiba Angom.
