Imphal, October 23 2008: Inspite of the proscribed KCP-MC owning responsibility for the October 21 bomb blast at Ragailong, that claimed the lives of 16 persons social and youth organisations continue to condemn the act of mass killing of individuals.

Namdulong Youth Club (stadium Road), Zeliangrong Students' Union (Longmai/Noney Area) of Tamenglong district, manipur Gorkha Welfare Union (Kanglatongbi), Chanura Lamchinglel kangleipak (CLK) and All India Rural Women's Upliftment Association (Manipur), in separate releases voiced unanimity in describing the blast as barbaric and acts of terrorism that ought to be condemned in the severest tone by all.

Appealing to perpetrators of criminal acts to refrain from such activities in the future, these bodies also conveyed to sharing sorrow of the bereaved families and urged to State authorities to take appropriate measures so as to ensure that such incidents do not recur.

Reacting to the KCP MC's reasoning that the blast was triggered to discourage indulgence in Diwali festivities and merriment, Chanura lamchinglel Kangleipak opined that rather than resort to such ghastly act prior warning would have been a far more better and acceptable option.

Such radical and violent campaign inspite of its inert objective being preservation of cultural ethos should not have been perpetrated at the cost of human lives as acts of terrorism do not have a place in the society, the women's body maintained.

Further expressing that triggering fear psychosis among the people through acts of violence such a setting of bomb blasts and opening fire at populated areas would only act as a deterrent to the armed revolutionary movement, CLK also called upon all concerned to desist from any activities that could compromise safety of the masses.

A protest sitting participated by people of different communities was also staged at Pandon (Ragailong) gate today in denunciation of the powerful bomb blast of October 21 night which has so far claimed 17 lives besides injuring scores of others.
