Imphal, April 23 2009: Referring to the statement of the PRO of Hqs IG AR (S) that two UNLF cadres were killed in an encounter with AR troops near border pillar number 84 along Manipur-Myanmar border yesterday afternoon, the proscribed UNLF has denied the claim asserting that there was no information about any such incident with any UNLF/MPA unit.

A press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba alleged that the claim about recovery of one 9 mm pistol and one .32 revolver from the slain individuals only exposed the falsehood of the statement.

No weapons smaller or inferior to AK/SMG are issued to MPA cadres operating in the hills, it disclosed.

The incident was one of the usual fake encounters enacted by security forces in the valley after picking up innocent civilians and later dressing them in combat fatigue and placing weapons near the corpses though the particular incident was staged in the hills this time, the outfit alleged.
