Imphal, October 22 2009: Denouncing the alleged killing of one Ningthoujam Nabachandra (34) s/o Mani of Khangabok Part III, Cherapur Leikai but staying at Khundrakpam Makha Leikai by feeding poison forcibly on October 20, local people staged a protest demonstration at Keibi Heikak Mapan Makha Leikai today.

The protest demonstration staged under the aegis of the Keibi Heikak Mapan Apunba Nupi Lup strongly condemned the killing of Nabachandra by poisoning as well as the reported act of feeding misleading report to the media.

The women protesters refuted the report that Nabachandra was forcibly fed poison by some unidentified persons at Keibi Heikak Mapan under Lamlai police station at about 6 pm of October 20 as false and unfounded.

They claimed that some people saw Ningthoujam Nabachandra riding a moped (Luna) from the side of Sagolmang Chingjin at about 5.30 pm of the same day.

Coming to the house of Wangkheirakpam Ibomcha of Keibi Heikak Mapan, Nabachandra said that he was fed poison by some unidentified persons at Sagolmang Chingjin.

He pleaded Ibomcha to save his life.

At this, the local people took Nabachandra to JN Hospital.

But he succumbed to the poison there.

Wangkheirakpam Ibomcha said he and Nabachandra used to work together in a printing press about 10 years back.

"Nabachandra looked quite tired when he entered my house.

Saying that he was fed poison, Nabachandra pleaded to save his life", Ibomcha recounted.

As the local people were arranging a vehicle to take Nabachandra to hospital, he started throwing up and it contained blood.

He failed to respond to treatment at JN Hospital, Ibomcha said.

Meanwhile, the corpse of Ningthoujam Nabachandra has been claimed by family members after post mortem at RIMS today.
