Imphal, July 21: While staging a Wakat Meepham here today in protest against kidnapping of young children, violence incidents perpetrated by armed persons and rising price of essential commodities, workers of the State Unit BJP have decried the ineffectiveness of the Congress led Government in dealing with these problems afflicting the State today.

The Wakat Meepham was staged in front of party's office gate at Nityaipat Chuthek here from 11 am to 3 pm.

Many party leaders including president Dr H Borbabu participated in the demonstration.

Later, talking to The Sangai Express, Borbabu said BJP strongly condemned the unprecedented incident of kidnapping young children from different parts of the State for the last few days.

The kidnapped children should be released unharm and handed over to their respective parents, she demanded.

On the issue of law and order, Borbabu contended the failure of the Government in containing the violent incidents of killing which are taking place in the State almost on daily basis has shown that there is no governance in the State and the Government has given up its responsibility.

Providing arms to the people of Heirok area to protect themselves inspite of deployment of a large number of State forces and other paramilitary personnel deployed in the State is nothing but an instigation towards more bloodshed and fratricidal killings, he observed.

Inability of the Government to ensure adequate supply of rice to the people despite of the fact that there is enough stock of rice in the godown and creation of a situation of artificial scarcity of rice in the State as a consequence is nothing but the inherent weakness of the Government, Borbabu charged and demanded resignation of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on moral ground.

He also said that the that the Minister and the officials concerned should be held responsible for failing to ensure availability of rice among the people and its high cost if it is available.

The State Government should also take up steps to ensure that the essential commodities are made available to the people at an affordable rate, he noted.

However, instead of trying to solve all these pressing problems, the Chief Minister has been camping at Delhi to win over the MP and save the downfall of UPA Government at the Centre over the Nuclear deal issue, he charged.
