Imphal, June 20 2009: With its ultimatum set to the Chief Minister to book the culprits expiring tomorrow, the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of contractor Yengkhom Krishnadas has sought intervention of Governor Gurbachan Jagat to expedite investigation into the murder case.

A team of JAC members called on the Governor today and appealed to direct the State police to book and punish the culprits according to law at the earliest.

A memorandum was also submitted to the Governor in this regard.

Among other points, the memorandum conveyed great apprehension among the public that the real culprit(s) and conspirators may go scot-free by twisting and delaying the course of investigation and that some superior authorities may have a role in the brutal killing.

Around 3000 people belonging to Ward Nos 7, 8, 9, 10 of Kakching Municipal Council, Irengband and Mantak participated in the sit-in-protest.
