Lamka, January 18: Former HAC Chairman and incumbent MLA of Thanlon A/C Songchinkhup today launch a novel alliance of the independent candidates here under the banner of Peoples Democratic Alliance (PDA).

Speaking on the occasion, former MLA BD Behring, W Keishing and the working president of PDA Songchinkhup articulate the various limitation of the Congress-led SPF Government.

In its manifesto, PDA vows to protect the democratic rights of the people; preserve the identity and fulfilled the aspirations of the ethnic indigenous people and to ensure good governance.

At a meeting with media persons after the public gathering, Songchinkhup claimed that he was the one who denied the Congress ticket and not vice versa.

The working style of Ibobi-led SPF Government is only to make promises after promises without practical implementation, he said, when inquired why he choose to renounce the party he has been associated with for the past five years.

To supplement his allegations, the bespectacled MLA who has represented Thanlon A/C for three consecutive terms added that none of the promise the CM has made while visiting Parbung and Thanlon were fulfilled to this day.

Further alleging that the Congress party was plagued with selfish motives and concealment, Songchinkhup asserts that he has shun the party in order to pave a way for an alternative Government other than the Congress band.

On the escalating number of contenders he has gathered, 'the more the number of his contenders, the greater the chance of his winning, he assumed.

In another political gathering here, Union Tribal Affairs Minister PR Kyndiah addressed a group of Congress loyalists and appealed to them to elect the Congress party again to power, in order to realize the various complexity the society has been amassing today.

IFC Minister T Phungzathang, PHE Minister TN Haokip, Dr Chaltonlien Amo MLA and Thangso Baite MLA also spoke to the gathering.
