Imphal, February 15, 2010: A rebel was killed by the troops of Assam Rifles in Laipham Khullen village in interior Chandel district early Monday and recovered arm and ammunitions, a police report said.

Troops of 29 Assam Rifles of 26 sector engaged in a gunfight with some well an unknown group of rebels this morning at about 5.40 am in the general area of Laipham Khullen under Tengnoupal police station of Chandel district.

In the gunfight that last for about 10 minutes one rebel was killed. An M-16 rifles with magazine loaded with six live rounds and two hand grenade along with Rs 400 recovered from the slain rebel, PRO, IGAR(S) stated.

The dead body along with the seized weapon and ammunitions handed over to the Tengnoupal police who transferred to Imphal and deposited to RIMS morgue, police said.
