Samples of dead birds culled

Imphal, February 11: Following the reported death of 16 chickens mysteriously all of sudden one after another in a chicken shops at Kalinagar of Jiribam Sub-Division under Imphal East District, officials of the Veterinary Department today collected samples of the dead fowls and some of the carcasses culled and buried.

However, related symptoms of Bird flu have been detected from none of the death birds.

Meanwhile, a public awareness campaign on poultry farming, bird flu and insemination was organised by the Deputy Director of Veterinary office, Jiribam, today at the town hall of the sub-division, reports our Jiribam correspondent.

Nodal Officer on Bird Flu Dr K Gopal stressed the need to protect ourselves against bird flu during the campaign.

Deputy Director of Veterinary Office, Jiribam Dr Saroja also spoke at the occasion.

According to Extension Officer of Veterinary Office, Jiribam M Mangi noted that no case of bird flu has been detected i the sub-division till date.
