Imphal, January 30 2010: After the recent incident of brutal murder of a mother and her daughter at Phayeng, a 26year old woman was found murdered brutally in yet another suspected case of rape at a paddy field in between Langthabal Phuramakhong and Hiyangthang under Imphal West District today.

The body of the latest victim identified as Rajkumari Ratanmala alias Ithoi (26) d/o Rajkumar Ruhini alias Bhubansana of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai under Porompat Police Station was recovered this evening.

According to her family members, Ratanmala had gone out from home at around 2.30 pm yesterday.

When she did not return home, they thought she may have been eloped.

However, as her whereabouts could not be known till late morning today, efforts were made to trace her.

On getting wind of the fact that Ratanmala was in love with a young man from Ningombam who has a fish farm at Poila Loukon, the family members went there.

On the way, they heard the news about the body of a woman lying and came to know that it was indeed that of Ratanmala.

According to police report, apart from strangulation marks on the neck of the victim, injuries caused probably by some heavy object/s were also found on her head and near lips.

Her Phanek was lifted upto the waist and her jersey and innerwears removed.

There were also straw scattered around the place where the body was found.

Along with registering a case, Singjamei police have picked up the body and kept at the mortuary of RIMS.
