Sharmila completes 669 days in fast: CM

Imphal, July 14: The leader of the House chief minister O Ibobi informed the state assembly that the state government has spent Rs 1.47 lakhs on Irom Sharmila who has completed 669 days of fasting and is now currently admitted in JN Hospital.

The fasting by Irom Sharmila demanding immediate withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Power Act from Manipur completes 669 days.

The leader of the House O Ibobi Singh in the State Assembly gave this information during question hour.

He was replying to a question raised by M Bhorot Singh of BJP.

To save Sharmila Manipur government had already spent more than Rs.47 lakhs the Chief Minister also further stated.

To convince her, he himself had met her many times added the Chief Minister.

The Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister were also informed about the situation and have urged both the central leaders to talk to her O Ibobi also informed the house.

The state Government also is not happy in which Sharmila was kept and the act which she demanded for removal will automatically be removed if the law and order situation improves the Chief Minister replied in the supplementary questions of the opposition members.

The Chief Minister also assured to look into the suggestions made by the oppositions to press the Union Home Minister or the Union Defense Minister to talk to Sharmila to end her fasting.
