Khordak killing: 3 missing, 1 escapes

Imphal, May 01 2009: Although five bodies have been recovered from out of the nine non-Manipuris who have been taken inside the Keibul Lamjao National Park by unidentified armed persons yesterday, one of them reportedly managed to escape while three are still missing.

According to police report, four bodies that bore deep cut wounds probably made by some sharp objects were retrieved from Khordak Awang Leikai side of the National Park last night and another body with bullet wounds was retrieved from around the same area today morning.

Meanwhile, another non-Manipuri youth who managed to escape from the clutches of the unidentified killers reported to the Porompat Police Station of Imphal East District today and confirmed from his statement that three more are still missing.

Identifying the escaped youth as Md Babloo alias Irasad (20) s/o Habib, police report said that all nine of them including the five killed, the three missing and the one escaped had gone together from Kumbi Bazar after hiring an autorickshaw at around 9 am yesterday.

All nine of them are cloth sellers and were going to Nongmaikhong to sell garments.

In all 14 of them have come form Imphal.

But another group comprising five of them went to separate place after getting down from the bus at Kumbi.

As the unidentified armed persons started killing them one by one after being taken to the park, three of them escaped and fled for their lives.

But of the four, two got wounded.

Taking Babloo along with them, Imphal East Police today went to Khordak to search for the missing persons.

The search team was led by IG (Law & OrderII) C Doungel.

The missing persons have been identified as Md Safiq (27) so Farooq, Md Babloo alias Twinkle (23) s/o Gulam Nabi and Md Mubin (20) s/o Kaluwa Dagar.

Inclusive of the escaped Irasad, all four of them hailed from Kalakasher under Bulansahar in Uttar Pradesh but staying in rented rooms at Hatta.

bodies recovered so far were that Md Iqbal Khan (23) s/o Anwar, Md Umar (23) s/o Nanu Khan, Md Hanib (24) s/o Zuma Khan, Md Rashid Ali (18) s/o Farooq, all hailing from Kalakasher and Md Abin Ali (13) s/o Ahmad Ali of Baskandi of Silchar, Assam.

They were also staying at Hatta on rent.

Their bodies are still lying at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.
