New Delhi, January 11: Congress today finalised names for Manipur where three-phased Assembly polls would be held on February eight, 15 and 23.The list was finalised at a meeting of the Congress Election Committee (CEC) at the residence of party president Sonia Gandhi, party sources said.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The poll process in Manipur would be set in motion on Saturday when the State Governor would issue a notification for the first phase of polls.

Meanwhile, the sources said that the Screening Committee would meet tomorrow to shortlist candidates for Punjab assembly polls.

The Screening Committee is headed by senior Congress leader Mohsina Kidwai and includes Union Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Santosh Bagrodia, MP, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, AICC General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi and PCC chief Shamsher Singh Dullo.

The sources said that Congress president for the second time in the new year visited the party headquarters today and interacted with senior party colleagues on the strategy to be followed in the three poll-bound states.
