AR troops slay 3 more UG suspects

Imphal, October 10 2009: Troops of 28 Assam Rifles have slain three suspected underground cadres at Uran Chiru area under irilbung police station in Imphal East district last night.

Troops of 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) eliminated three UG cadres during an operation launched in the general area of Chiru village at around 9.15 pm yesterday, said a PRO IGAR (S) statement.

According to the statement, a huge cache of arms and ammunition including one AK 56 Rifles with magazine, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, one point 32 pistol with magazine (Italy made), 25 live rounds of AK, six live rounds of 9 mm, six live rounds of point 32 pistol and one Chinese hand grenade were also recovered from the possession of the slain UG cadres.

The bodies of the slain UGs alongwith recovered items have been handed over to Irilbung police station at around 10 pm yesterday, the PRO added.

The incident is the second of its kind in the last about 20 hours involving troops of the same AR unit after same number of people were gunned down at Andro Khunou area on october 8 midnight.

In the latest incident yesterday, the three suspected UG activists were shot dead at near Uran chiru village and their bodies kept at RIMS morgue for identification.

Meanwhile, identities of all the three victims slain in between Andro Khunou and Sanapat area during the preceding incident also involving 28 AR troops have been confirmed today.

Family members of one of the victims had claimed one of them as RK Brajamani alias Bijuli (38) of Tera Sapam Leirak, a former PREPAK activist who had served jail term and was under ART treatment.

Brajamani's wife, Chaoba Devi had yesterday told newspersons of her husband forced down from a passenger bus by unidentified persons from Jiri Parking, Wahengbam leikai on October 7 morning.

Brajamani, Chaoba Devi along with their child were about to travel to Jiribam where the husband used to regularly visit on business trip, the bereaved wife narrated while adding that the unidentified persons had come in a Maruti Alto car.

She had also revealed that two other persons were also whisked away from inside the bus.

The two other victims have been identified as Md Feroze alias Molecule (22) s/o Ithoi from Kshetrigao Thambalkhong and Haobijam Ibomcha (48) s/o (L) Thambal of Loitang Sandum.

feroze, according to family sources, was a driver by profession and left behind his wife and two daughters.

He reportedly left home after informing family elders of his plan to leave for Jiribam.

Ibomcha, who was a pastor, had been staying at Keirao since about 3/4 years back and was a frequent traveller to Jiribam as a small time trader, maintained family members.

After the bodies were taken from RIMS morgue to lilong PHC for post mortem examinations respective family members claimed the corpses today.

On the other hand, identity has been established of the person who was gunned down by troops of 31 AR on October 7 night at near Pillar No 81 of the Indo-Myanmar border.

The victim has turned out to be a Myanmar national namely Kamal Chettri (32) s/o (L) Bahadur Chettri of Tamu Ward No 13.Kamal's relatives reportedly informed Moreh police station after which his identity was established.

sources informed that Kamal had left for Nepal through Moreh in the last week of September month.

he is survived by his wife and two children.

Relevant measures are underway to hand over the body.

Six held: The PRO IGAR (S) release reported arrest of three UGs during another operation launched by troops of 29 Assam Rifles in general area of Laipham village at around 6 am today.

On questioning, two of them turned out to be active cadres of PLA while the third one was PREPAK cadre, the PRO said, adding that they were coming from Bangladesh via Mizoram border to liaise with other cadres in Imphal valley and Myanmar to plan operation against security forces.

Identifying the arrested PLA cadres as no.2782 L/Cpl Dashamanta Singh alias Ak Bhupendra (29) s/o late Tombire Singh of Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai belonging to 251 mobile battalion of PLA, no.2788 L/Cpl Somorendro Singh alias Athouba (20) s/o Toba Singh of Andro Kharam Leikai, also belonging to 251 mobile battalion of PLA and PREPAK cadres no.30736 Cpl Arunkumar alias Poreiton Singh (26) s/o Tombi Singh of Wabagai Mairembam, the PRO informed that all three of them have been handed over to Imphal West Police Station later during the day.

In yet another incident, the PRO further informed, troops of 22 Grenadiers recovered a pressure type IED from Khengjang at around 11.30 am today.

The IED weighing 600 grams with dimension of 6'' X 3'' was destroyed in situ.

Meanwhile, Commandos of Thoubal District Police have reportedly arrested one KCP cadre during a search operation at Kiyam Siphai today morning.

According to a statement issued by Senior SP of Thoubal District Clay Khongsai, the arrested KCP cadre has been identified as Lisham Naoton Singh alias Somdatta (19) s/o Lisham Ibomcha Singh of Kiyam Siphai Laithagol Leirak.

He was arrested from his house at around 4 am.

On the other hand, acting on credible information, Imphal West District police commandos have reportedly arrested two KLA activists from Thangmeiband in front of ABC godown at around 5.30 am today.

According to a statement issued by Senior SP of Imphal West District L Kailun, the arrested KLA activists have been identified as S/S 2nd Lt Adaho Alison Kamei (35) s/o Aguishing Kamei of Langol Tarung village and Naorem Suraj Singh alias Kiran (36) s/o N Sanatombi Singh of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai.

On spot verification, Adaho Alison disclosed that he joined NSCN (K) in 1992 through one S/S Maj Yangkong and got military training at Chummu in Burma.

But in 2006, he ran out from NSCN (K) and joined KLA while Suraj disclosed that he joined KLA through Adaho Alison in January 2009, the SSP informed, adding that one demand letter of KLA signed by Tiger Kuki of the department of finance of KLA was seized from the possession of Adaho Alison.
