PCC, CRAU, KASC and PSC emerge victorious as 5th MNCA Plate Tournament kicks off

Imphal, March 18 2020: The 5th MNCA Plate Tournament 2019-20 being organised by Manipur Cricket Association kicked off today.

24 teams clubbed into 4 groups, are in the fray for the top honours of the tournament which will be played at four different venues namely Luwangpokpa Cricket Ground, Luwangsangbam; Moijing playground, Thoubal, Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College ground and Langthabal Public Ground on the opening day of the tournament.

In the Group A opening match played at Luwangpokpa Cricket ground, PCC, Mayaikoibi sealed their first win beating UCC, Uripok by 6 wickets.

UCC won the toss and elected to bat first before posting a total of 91 runs for all wickets down in 21.5 overs (40 overs an innings).

PCC then chased downed the target in 20 overs with 6 wickets left in the hand.

Roshan topscored for UCC with 24 runs in 31 balls while Satish made another double digit scores of 10 runs for the team as other order fell easy prey to PCC's Anand who managed 5 crucial wickets for 16 in 5.5 overs.

Rohit, Jobanta also picked up two wickets each in this innings.

In PCC's chase, Tyson scored 8 runs before Rohit and Anand gathered 16 runs each.

Premjit also scored 12 runs to help PCC reach the target.

UCC's Arnold claimed two wickets of PCC as Shyam and Gulson picked up a wicket each in a losing cause.

Th Anand of PCC was eventually named man of the match.

RCT, Kwakeithel will play TCMDC, Thongju in the next Group A league match tomorrow at the same venue.

Emphatic 248 run victory for CRAU
In the group B opener staged at Moijing playground, CRAU, Khamnam Bazar thrashed KIYC by 248 runs.

Kh Bimol of CRAU shone in this match as he scored an unbeaten century with 115 runs off 106 runs after the team elected to bat first.

A Rakesh struck another century with 112 runs off 82 balls and P Ronil blazed off 51 in 31 balls to help CRAU post huge total of 321 runs for 4.CRAU did not face much resistance from KIYC bowlers but Abdul Hamid was the only bowler to take two wickets in this innings.

KIYC however had a huge embarrassment as their innings ended in just 22.5 overs with only 73 runs in their names.

Abdul Hameed (11), Farhad (12) and L Thouba (13) managed double digit scores in this innings which saw CRAU's Ajay bag 5 wickets for 20 in his spell 5.5 overs.

CRAU's Th Rishi, Miranjan and Johenba also claimed a wicket each to trigger the KIYC collapse.

Kh Bimol who hit a ton and remained not out, was named man of the match.

KCC will play YUCC in the next Group B league match tomorrow at the same ground.

PSC thrash RRCC
Elsewhere at Langthabal Public Ground, PSC, Khuyathong thump RRCC, Churachandpur by 7 wickets (Group C opener).

RRCC piled up 106 runs for 10 in 22.4 overs after being let to bat first by PSC and the latter chased down the target at the cost of 3 wickets in 15 overs.

Haojilen (25), Raju (23) and Moun (12) were the three significant contributors for RRCC in the first innings which witnessed Kenny of PSC run riot and enjoy a fifer giving 28 runs in his spell of 6.4 overs.

Prasantajit of PSC also made his mark with a three wicket haul.

PSC then rode on Surchand's 52 off 51 balls and Das's 21 off 27 balls to earn the huge win against the Churachandpur team.

Elian, Thingo and Shyamsunder of RRCC picked up a wicket each in PSC's innings.

Kenny of PSC who produced a commendable bowling performance was adjudged man of the match.

SDC will play RCA tomorrow in the next Group C league match at the same venue.

KASC upset CDC by 6 wickets
Meanwhile in the Group D opening match staged at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College playground, KASC, Khomidok earned a huge 6 wicket victory against CDC, Sagolband.

CDC which elected to bat first after winning the toss could were bowled out for 196 in 39.5 overs and KASC got it past the rivals' total losing 4 wickets in 36.5 overs as Md Najir Khan and Farijuddin Md Anchored well after the openers faltered with paltry scores.

CDC had a stuttering start and relied on Bungbung Ch (29) and Robindro RK (30) early on before S Agu hit a 56-ball 51.Hiralal Kh and Anthony Kh also made sensible contributions of 19 and 16 runs respectively in CDC's innings.

M Chingkheinganba was the pick of KASC bowlers in this innings as he scalped 5 wickets for 37 in 8 overs.

Md Anjum MM of KASC claimed two wickets to add more tooth to their bowling attack while Md Babu and Md Farijuddin managed a wicket apiece.

In the chase, KASC lost Th Priyobata (6) and Alam Intisal (1) early but vice captain, Md Najir Khan played a responsible role and keep the chase alive by scoring 64 runs off 105 balls.

Farizuddin too added 44 runs before he departed in 59th delivery before Md Sahir Khan scored 24 and remained not out to steer the team to the win.

Arif was also not out on 3 off 4 balls in the chase.

Hiralal managed two wickets of KASC while Bungbung Ch and Anthony Kh got a wicket each.

Md Najir Khan of KASC was named man of the match.

SDC will meet RCA in the next Group D league match tomorrow at the same venue.
