India-orchestrated conflict: CorCom
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, May 23 2023: The conflict since May 3 be-tween two communities of Manipur (Kangleipak) is neither an unacquaint-ed incident nor a sudden outburst of unconscious thought but culmination of the never-ending process and long plannedsinister plot tobikrcate Mani-pur by the government of India through some divisive elements, claimed Co-ordination Committee (CorCom), the conglomerate of underground groups operating in Manipur.

Expressing its view on the conflict for the second time, a CorCom state-ment issuedbyits publicity committee contended the flare- up could have been solved within a short period of time if it was an impulsive incident.

The con-glomerate also reminded 'compatriots' that deployment of more IndianArmy in the name of containing the present crisis among the brotherhood is not for the protection of life and economy of the common people but to add more fuel to the burning communal fire.

While maintaining that the present incident is not between the two com-munities, the CorCom said the crisis besieging people of Manipur (Kanglei-(Kk) is that of the fight to divide Manipur (Kangleipak) due to meticulous manip-ulations by the central government with logistic support from puppet politicians and occupational forces to their hench-men who targeted the lifeof the innocent people of other communities.

A video clip captured byadrone and broadcast in a local TV channel few days back about Assam Rifles transporting armed men they used and planned to attack Meetei villages near Pukhao in Imphal East was glaring evidence and proved 'occupational' forces' logistic support to their henchmen, the CorCom said.

At first people of Manipur were very thankful fordeployingadditionalsecurity forces and hoped of getting protection and control of the conflict but their action seems to be contradictory.

Security forces convinced the peopk to feel secure and assured to protect life and properties.

However, there have been repeated incidents of burn-ing houses and huts by armed militants in front of the Indian forces and accordingly helpless villagers are mobilizing to pro-tect themselves day and night, it said.

At this crucial juncture when people of both the hills and valley are suffering from acute shortage of essential commodi-ties, thequestion arises as to how armed looters waylaid goods laden trucks along the high-ways with security personnel supposed to protect the trucks doing nothing, the CorCom said.

While appealing the people to remain vigilant as activities of detractors todestroy Manipur will not stop easily as the central government sponsors them, the CorCom said the key to end the present imbroglio is in the hands of the ethnic communities of Manipur (Kangleipak).

The CorCom further said that the unfortunate predicament about the present generation of Manipur is the obsession of some sections of the society with the illusion of the `Constitu-tional Safeguard' of the Indian Constitution.

What they fail to understand is that there is no foolproof safeguard asthe Indian Constitution is flexible and can be amended many times to suit the interests of mainland politi-cal practitioners and it was am-ply shown by the special status of Kashmir being shredded into pieces.

Only the constitution of an independent Manipur (Kan-gleipak can safeguard the peo-ple an fulfil the aspirations of the diverse ethnic communities.

If we do not fight to regain our lost nation, wewill all perish by falling prey to lies and deceit of the destructive elements and the Indian government, the CorCom added.
